It's me, Jess Solomon.
With over 17 years of experience running one of Melbourne's most vibrant and innovative dance studios, I have lived through the ups, downs and in-betweens, of all things dance studio ownership.

From achieving excellence in dance and business to wanting to sell up and never see a sickled foot ever again, I've managed to develop the skills to survive and thrive.
​
My studio is now self-managed. I'm involved for enjoyment, not necessity. I now enjoy work-life balance, being a Mum, coaching dance studio owners, and studying full time (Bachelor of Laws).
​
Running a dance studio is fast-paced and time-consuming, leaving little time each week for everything else, let alone trying to improve your business or business skillset. That's why I'm passionate about providing simple, straightforward, and practical advice and resources that are available when you need them.
​

My studio journey - so far

In 2007, I launched my brand new studio, initially operating out of various halls and community centres.
​

By 2009, I secured our first leased space, transforming a factory into a fully equipped studio complete with dance floors, mirrors, ballet barres, and all the essentials.
​

My studio rapidly grew to over 500 students!
​

As we outgrew our initial facility, we moved to a larger space, our current main studio location. This upgrade allowed us to include five studios, a spacious waiting area, a reception and uniform shop, and ample storage.
​

Our students have achieved remarkable success, landing roles in professional musicals, TV shows, and commercials, winning competitions, excelling in exams, and receiving special awards. Many have pursued full-time performing arts education, leading to professional careers in theme parks, cruise ships, and dance teaching.

On the business front, our success is built on an incredible team of staff who handle daily operations, allowing me to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
​

Despite being forced to close for over 350 days during the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020-21, we managed to keep the studio and staff afloat and successfully rebuild.
​

Our original location continues to thrive with its preschool, recreational, and pre-professional programs.
​

In late 2023, we expanded further by opening a new studio in a growing area to develop another recreational dance school.
​

With over 500 students enrolled each year and a dedicated team of 15 staff members, our studio is a well-oiled machine that generates a great profit but more importantly, fosters a vibrant dance community.
